Who we are

This website, theweblab.co.za, is owned and operated by The Weblab (Pty) Ltd ("The Weblab", "we", "us"). We are a lead generation and digital marketing company based on the West Coast of the Western Cape, South Africa, serving clients locally and internationally.

If you have any questions about this policy or your personal information, email us at hello@theweblab.co.za or call 087 223 2282.

Information we collect

We only collect what we need to respond to you and run our website:

  • Information you give us. When you complete a form, request an assessment, or contact us, we collect your name, email address, phone number, business name or website, and anything else you choose to tell us.
  • Usage information. We collect aggregate, non-identifying analytics about how visitors use the site, such as pages viewed and general location, to improve it.
  • Chat conversations. If you use the chat assistant on our site, your messages are logged so we can respond and improve the service.

We do not collect special categories of personal information, and we do not knowingly collect information from children.

How we use your information

We use your information to:

  • respond to your enquiry and provide the services you ask for;
  • send you information you have requested, and, with your permission, occasional marketing;
  • improve our website, services, and customer experience;
  • keep records for fraud prevention and to meet our legal obligations.

The Weblab will never send you spam or unsolicited email or SMS, and we will never sell your information to affiliates or third parties.

Cookies and analytics

Our website uses cookies and similar technologies to make the site work, remember your preferences, and understand how it is used. We use Google Analytics and Google Tag Manager to measure traffic and improve the site.

When you first visit, you can choose which non-essential cookies to allow. Essential cookies needed for the site to function are always on. You can change your choice at any time, and you can also block or delete cookies through your browser settings, though some features may not work as well if you do.

Chat assistant

Our site uses an AI-powered chat assistant. Conversations are logged so we can improve the service and follow up where appropriate. The assistant's suggestions are generated automatically, so please confirm anything important with a human consultant. Chat information is stored for 365 days and then deleted.

Who we share information with

We share personal information only with trusted providers who help us run our business, and only as far as they need it. These include:

  • Google (analytics and advertising);
  • our chat assistant provider;
  • our email and hosting providers.

These providers are required to protect your information and may only use it to provide their service to us. We do not sell your personal information to anyone.

Email and SMS

If you sign up or enquire, we keep your details so we can respond and, where relevant, keep you informed. You can update your information or unsubscribe from marketing at any time by emailing hello@theweblab.co.za.

How long we keep it

We keep personal information only as long as we need it for the purpose it was collected, or as long as the law requires. Chat conversations are kept for 365 days. When information is no longer needed, we delete it securely.

Your rights under POPIA

Under the Protection of Personal Information Act (POPIA), you have the right to:

  • ask what personal information we hold about you;
  • ask us to correct or update it;
  • ask us to delete it, where we are not required to keep it;
  • object to us using it for direct marketing;
  • withdraw consent you have given.

To exercise any of these rights, email our Information Officer, Scott Wentworth, at hello@theweblab.co.za. If you believe we have not handled your information properly, you may also lodge a complaint with the Information Regulator of South Africa.

Security

We take reasonable steps to protect your information, but no website or transmission over the internet can be guaranteed to be completely secure. Where we hold your information, we keep it as safe as we reasonably can.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. When we do, we will change the date at the top of this page. Please check back occasionally so you are aware of any changes.
